About

Everyday Literary Magazine is a new literary magazine publishing non-fiction flash that is real, raw, gritty, and unpretentious.

This magazine was born out of a frustration: why is it so damn hard to publish flash non-fiction and get paid for it?

We looked at Duotrope, and out of 7,492 active publishers, less than 40 paid >.05/word for flash non-fiction. Of these, many did not specifically focus on flash non-fiction, had extremely long wait times, or had extremely low acceptance rates. (A 0.50% acceptance rate? Seriously?)

Everyday Literary Magazine strives to be different.

We pay $20/piece, which we realize is not much for the hard work that you put into writing. However, we hope to raise our rates in the future with more funding.

We aim to respond to each submission personally within a week (although we hope to respond more quickly).

Finally, we want to be accessible. We’re shooting for a 10-20% acceptance rate, so that new and emerging writers can get published.

So what are you waiting for? Head to our submission page for more information on getting published.
